Full-Day Excursion to Pangong Lake

Via Chang La Pass · 17,590 ft

Set off early in the morning for a dramatic journey to Pangong Tso. The road climbs steeply up to Chang La Pass (17,590 ft), offering crisp alpine air and snow-capped peaks. Descend through the rugged wilderness of the Changthang region, spotting Himalayan marmots along the road. Arrive at the breathtaking 134-kilometer-long Pangong Lake, renowned for changing shades from turquoise to deep indigo throughout the day. Enjoy lunch by the shore, capture photographs at the iconic 3 Idiots movie point, and absorb the vast silence before returning to Leh by late evening.

Khardung La Pass Excursion

In the morning, ascend the winding zig-zag roads towards Khardung La Pass, traditionally recognized as one of the world's highest motorable passes at 17,582 feet. At the top, capture photographs against prayer flags fluttering in the wind, with sweeping views of the Karakoram range to the north and the Zanskar range to the south. Descend back down to Leh by early afternoon. The rest of the day is yours to explore Leh's bustling local bazaar, shop for authentic Pashmina shawls, silver jewelry, and Tibetan handicrafts, or relax at a local rooftop cafe.
