A trans-Himalayan loop from Leh deep into Zanskar, over Pensi La and back through Kargil and Lamayuru.
Arrive at Leh Airport, meet your private expedition team, and transfer to your hotel. Rest for the entire day to acclimate to the elevation before beginning your journey into remote Zanskar.
Spend a gentle day visiting Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, and Hemis Monastery while our team finalizes inner-line permits and checks expedition supplies.
Depart early for an unforgettable, rugged drive into Zanskar. Follow the Zanskar River gorge through Chilling and along newly carved mountain roads into Padum, the administrative heart of Zanskar Valley. Arrive by evening and check into your homestay or hotel.
Spend the day exploring ancient Zanskari culture:
Set off early in the morning driving towards the trailhead near Anmu/Cha. Begin a day trek along the Tsarap River gorge to reach Phuktal Monastery, an architectural wonder built directly into a cliffside cave. Explore the monastery, interact with the resident monks, and trek back to the trailhead for your return drive to Padum.
Bid farewell to Padum and drive towards Rangdum. Cross Pensi La Pass (14,435 ft), stopping to admire views of the massive Drang-Drung Glacier, a sea of ice winding down the mountains. Arrive at the windswept valley of Rangdum and visit Rangdum Monastery.
Drive through the Suru Valley, a striking region lined with willow trees, green fields, and views of the colossal Nun (23,409 ft) and Kun (23,218 ft) twin peaks. Arrive in Kargil by late afternoon and relax at your hotel.
Drive along the highway back towards Leh. En route, stop at Lamayuru Monastery to view its "Moonland" soil formations. Continue past Magnetic Hill and Sangam, arriving in Leh by evening.
Spend a relaxed day visiting any missed sights around lower Leh, such as Alchi Monastery, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, or Spituk Monastery. Return to Leh town early to rest.
Enjoy a free day in Leh. Use this time to relax at local cafes, stroll through the market, and shop for authentic Zanskari wool, Pashmina, or local handicrafts.
Transfer to Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport after breakfast for your flight home.

Roads cut into gorges, monasteries built into cliffs, and a valley that still keeps its own pace.
