Across Khardung La into the cold desert of Nubra, along the wild Shyok River, and a night right on the shores of Pangong Lake.
Touch down at Leh Airport, where our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. The first day is reserved exclusively for acclimatization to prevent altitude sickness. Rest in your room, sip warm herbal tea, and avoid any physical exertion. In the evening, take a leisurely walk around the hotel grounds or nearby Leh Market.
Begin your cultural exploration after breakfast with a drive along the Indus River valley.
Return to Leh by evening to pack your duffel bags for the upcoming multi-day valley circuit.
Depart early after breakfast, climbing up to the world-famous Khardung La Pass. Take quick photographs at the summit, then descend into the dramatic Nubra Valley, where green oasis villages emerge from barren mountain faces. Visit Diskit Monastery, Nubra's oldest monastery, dominated by a towering 106-foot outdoor statue of the Maitreya Buddha looking out over the valley floor. Continue to Hunder, famous for its cold desert sand dunes. Enjoy an optional ride on the double-humped Bactrian camels, a legacy of the ancient Silk Road trading route.
Wake up to mountain views in Nubra and begin a stunning road journey along the winding Shyok River. This route passes through sheer canyon walls, rocky washes, and remote settlements like Durbuk and Tangtse. Arrive at Pangong Lake by late afternoon as the sunlight shifts the water's palette through shades of green, cyan, and deep cobalt blue. Spend the evening exploring the shoreline, watching the sunset cast golden hues across the surrounding peak tops, and enjoying a warm dinner at your camp.
Wake up early to catch a sunrise over Pangong Lake. After a warm breakfast, check out of camp and begin your return journey towards Leh, traversing the majestic Chang La Pass. Arrive in Leh in the afternoon and head directly to Leh Airport (or your booked hotel, depending on your flight schedule) to board your onward flight home.
Over the pass, down to the dunes, along the river, and awake by the lake at sunrise.
